New Caledonia's domestic airline Air Calédonie announced on Monday that it had cancelled all flights for the next three days.
The company said this was due to a mix of "technical" issues and "unfavourable weather conditions".
The affected destinations include the Isle of Pines and the Loyalty Islands (Maré, Ouvéa, Lifou).
The Loyalty Islands are currently affected by a moderate tropical low.
The recently-introduced link to neighbouring Port Vila (Vanuatu) is also affected.
In a message posted through social media, Air Calédonie is also recommending affected passengers to "postpone as much as possible" their scheduled travel if it is "non-essential" and to register through their website so they can be placed onboard the next available flight.
The only other means to travel to the outer islands, by sea, with the ferry "Betico", is also affected by the current weather conditions, and has suspended all inter-island service until Wednesday 5 February.
