Go to an Auckland Philharmonia concert, and you'll find Gabrielle Pho sitting with the French horns, where she's Section Principal.
But this Thursday, she'll be at the front of the stage with three of her orchestra colleagues: oboist Bede Hanley, Jonathan Cohen on the clarinet, and bassoonist Ingrid Hagan. They'll be performing as soloists in Mozart's "Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds".
RNZ Concert host Bryan Crump caught up with Gabrielle Pho to talk about the work (which may or may not be by Mozart, as it turns out). They also talked about her love of the French horn which began as a young child, and how she came from the United States to Aotearoa after graduating from Julliard.
