The hills of Wellington are alive this week with the sound of singing, as three of the four national choirs - nearly 200 singers under the age of 25 - gather in the capital for concerts and rehearsals.
One of those singers, New Zealand Youth Choir soprano Sophia Gittings, is already getting international attention. An alumna of the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir and Queen Margaret College, Sophia has just received scholarships to attend several overseas universities.
She spoke with RNZ Concert's David Morriss about her study plans, the New Zealand Youth Choir's upcoming international tour, and the concerts on 25 and 26 April.
